Bayer Leverkusen announced on Thursday that they have secured the services of Granit Xhaka, the Swiss midfielder, from Arsenal. The player has signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga team. While the exact financial details were not disclosed, British media reported that Bayer Leverkusen paid €25 million ($27.19 million) for the 30-year-old footballer.


Having spent seven seasons with Arsenal, Xhaka now joins Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen squad. During his time at Arsenal, he made 297 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing 29 assists. Xhaka also played a significant role in helping the club win two FA Cups.


Returning to the German league, Xhaka previously enjoyed a four-year stint with Borussia Monchengladbach before his move to Arsenal in 2016. Familiar with the league, he expressed his excitement about joining Bayer 04 Leverkusen.


"I have a deep understanding of the league, and I followed it closely even when I was in London. Bayer 04 is a club with a rich history and ambitious goals," stated Xhaka. "Above all, I believe it is a club with a bright future. Everyone here is driven and determined to achieve something significant. I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming years."
