Real Madrid wants to offer Mbappe a record-breaking salary
Over several seasons, it feels like Kylian Mbappe is surrounded by thrilling dramas. And this time, the situation is no different. The speculation and negotiations revolving around Mbappe continue, even before the season begins. However, it was Mbappe himself who initiated the turmoil. In a letter at the end of the season, he informed PSG that he does not want to renew his contract. According to his previous agreement, he plans to leave the club when his contract expires in 2024, as stated by the French star.
PSG did not take this letter well. They made it clear that either a contract renewal or a new destination must be sought amidst the ongoing saga. They emphasize that there is no opportunity for Mbappe to leave as a free agent. This Mbappe-PSG dilemma opens up possibilities for others.
Especially in the last two seasons, both Real Madrid and Liverpool have tried to capture Mbappe. However, Spanish media outlet Cadena SER suggests that Real Madrid has moved significantly ahead in the race to sign Mbappe. Santiago Bernabeu, along with personal terms, has made progress in their negotiations with Mbappe. The Spanish news outlet further reveals that Real Madrid has started preparing the contract documentation. The proposed agreement with Mbappe includes a release clause of 100 million euros. Moreover, the most successful club in European football is also offering an enticing salary for Mbappe. They are ready to provide him with 50 million euros per season as a salary. If this deal goes through until the end, Mbappe will be the highest-paid player in Real Madrid's history.
Apart from the salary, Real Madrid may offer Mbappe a five-year contract that will be valid until the summer of 2028. It is believed that in order to retain Mbappe for an extended period, Real Madrid is including a release clause of 100 million euros in the contract.
Although the paperwork for the Real Madrid contract has begun, the realization of many things depends on Mbappe's decision. Several times, he has expressed his desire to stay at PSG for another season. However, PSG remains in a dilemma. To keep him, they must renew his contract. Even revealing his decision requires two weeks of waiting from Paris' club.
A few days ago, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said, "We want Mbappe to stay at PSG. We really want it. If he doesn't want to extend his contract, then the door is open. He can leave." When asked why they don't want to keep Mbappe without renewing his contract, Al-Khelaifi further stated, "We cannot let the best footballer in the world leave for free. It is not possible."
Furthermore, Sky Sports reports that if Mbappe does not renew his contract by July 31, PSG will put him on the transfer market. In that case, PSG's asking price for Mbappe is 150 million euros. The situation and past history suggest that in the next few days, there will be more dramatic events surrounding Mbappe's transfer. We have to wait a little longer to find out what will happen to Mbappe in the end.
