"Cristiano Ronaldo is making empty claims"
Cristiano Ronaldo's decision to join a club in Saudi Arabia seems to have opened up a new direction in football. Following in Ronaldo's footsteps, he has embarked on a new adventure in European football within six months. Where stars like Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria, Roberto Firmino, and Eduardo Mendy also play. It was widely rumored that Lionel Messi would join the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. However, that did not happen.
Instead of going to Saudi Arabia, Messi joined the MLS club Inter Miami in the United States. In a recent interview, Ronaldo mentioned about surpassing the Saudi league compared to MLS. Former MLS footballer Mike Lahoud responded to Ronaldo's claim, stating that Ronaldo is blowing things out of proportion and talking a lot.
In response to Ronaldo's comments, former defender of Miami FC, Lahoud, said, "Ronaldo is exaggerating a lot. It's funny to talk about surpassing the Saudi league compared to other leagues (such as the Dutch and Turkish leagues). These comments were made around Lionel Messi's official introduction ceremony. When Messi talked about taking the global game to North America in the 2026 World Cup, we hear such things from Cristiano Ronaldo. It is entirely targeted at Messi. He also mentioned Serie A's struggles with the 'A' that led him to leave Juventus in a desperate situation."
Prior to this interview, Ronaldo had praised the Saudi league, saying, "The Saudi league is better than La Liga. I am absolutely sure, I will not return to European clubs. That door has been completely closed. I have paved the way to come to the Saudi league. Now every player (following me) is coming here." In the same interview, Ronaldo claimed that he had awakened the "dead" Serie A in Italy.
