According to reputable sources such as The Athletic and Nieuwsblad, Charlotte FC is on the verge of finalizing a deal to secure the services of Brecht Dejaegere, a Belgian midfielder who is set to leave Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC on a free transfer.

At 32 years old, Dejaegere would join the MLS club in its second year of existence, following his role as captain in leading Toulouse to a 13th-place finish in the top tier of French football. Throughout his career, the versatile veteran has demonstrated his skills across various positions and has an impressive record of 37 goals and 50 assists in 421 club appearances, representing Toulouse, KV Kortrijk, and KAA Gent in Belgium.

The potential signing of Dejaegere would mark the second addition to Charlotte's midfield during the summer transfer window. The team recently acquired Scott Arfield, a seasoned player who spent a significant period at the successful Scottish club Rangers FC. Arfield seamlessly integrated into Charlotte's starting lineup, partnering with Ashley Westwood, who joined the team in the previous winter transfer window after an impressive stint at English club Burnley. Additionally, the midfield roster boasts the experience of MLS veterans Derrick Jones and Brandt Bronico.

Under the guidance of head coach Christian Lattanzio, Charlotte FC is embarking on its inaugural full season and aiming to secure a coveted spot in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in the club's history. Presently situated in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings, the team is striving to break into playoff contention.
