Seeing Messi in Inter Miami's jersey, Barcelona's president finds it 'amazing
Lionel Messi is playing in Inter Miami's jersey, which looks incredible to Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta. Seeing Messi in any team's jersey other than Barcelona and Argentina creates a sense of wonder. Laporta is one of them.
After the contract with PSG ended, there were various speculations about where "free" Messi would go. One renowned news agency even stated that Messi might go to Saudi Arabia. A club there might have been in serious talks with Messi. However, Messi chose Inter Miami without revealing much.
Laporta had mentioned the idea of Messi playing in "a less important league." But now, he believes that if Messi plays in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA, it will be a fantastic contribution to the league's growth, with Messi, Jordi Alba, and Busquets playing together.
Laporta also commented on how Messi looks in Inter Miami's jersey, saying, "It's a unique feeling, quite remarkable. We all recognize Messi in Barcelona's jersey. Most of his career has been spent at Barcelona." Messi has won almost every major title during his 17-year career with the main Barcelona team.
Laporta isn't resentful of Messi going to Miami, saying, "It's entirely his decision. We respect his choice. We want our players to be happy. He came to Barcelona at a young age. That boy of 14 spent 20 years at our Camp Nou. We hope he'll be happy in Miami."
