Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli has made a significant acquisition by signing Spanish Under-21 international Gabri Veiga from LaLiga's Celta Vigo on a contract spanning three years. This move is part of a series of high-profile signings that have marked this summer's transfer window for Saudi Arabian clubs.

Having developed his skills within Celta Vigo's youth academy, Veiga demonstrated his prowess by netting 11 goals in the league during the previous season. Notably, he secured a decisive two-goal performance on the final day of the campaign against reigning champions Barcelona, propelling Celta Vigo to a 2-1 victory and ensuring their escape from relegation.

Aged 21, Veiga's potential has also been recognized on the international stage. He has earned eight appearances with Spain's Under-21 team and contributed to their runner-up finish at the U21 European Championship last month. His talents have attracted attention from various clubs during the transfer window, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Napoli expressing interest.

Al-Ahli celebrated their prized acquisition, stating on the messaging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), "The jewel of Spain will chant our anthem."

Gabri Veiga joins Al-Ahli's roster alongside notable signings like Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, Alain Saint-Maximin, Merih Demiral, Franck Kessie, and Roger Ibanez.

After a season in the second division, Al-Ahli's return to the Pro League has been marked by a strong start, having secured three wins from their opening three matches.

The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has introduced a Sports Clubs Investment and Privatisation Project that encompasses league titans Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr, and Al-Hilal. PIF holds a substantial 75% ownership stake in each of these four clubs, with the remaining 25% ownership vested in their respective non-profit foundations.
