West Ham United and Manchester United, both teams in the Premier League, have reached a preliminary agreement regarding England's talented defender, Harry Maguire. This development was widely reported on Wednesday by reputable sources such as Sky Sports television and the BBC.

The financial terms of the deal are estimated to be approximately 30 million pounds, which translates to around $38 million. Notably, there are no anticipated challenges in finalizing the personal terms of the agreement.

In recent times, Manchester United's manager, Erik ten Hag, took the decision to relieve Harry Maguire of his captaincy duties. This decision came about due to Maguire's limited involvement in the previous Premier League season. He only managed to make eight starts during that time, spending a significant portion of the season either on the bench or sidelined due to injuries.

As things stand, Maguire's role at Manchester United has become less significant, leading to the need for more playing time. This requirement is especially crucial considering his aspirations to be part of England manager Gareth Southgate's plans for the upcoming Euro 2024 championships, scheduled for the following year.

Gareth Southgate, reflecting on Maguire's situation, acknowledged that the current state of affairs is not sustainable indefinitely. Maguire, with 57 senior caps for England, is an experienced player whose situation requires attention.

In 2019, Harry Maguire made headlines as the world's most expensive defender when Manchester United secured his services from Leicester City for a staggering 80 million pounds. His contract with the club is set to expire in the year 2025.

The eagerly awaited Premier League season is set to commence on Friday, featuring a match in which promoted team Burnley will host the reigning champions, Manchester City. This marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting season of football in the Premier League.
