In a significant move, struggling Premier League team Everton has successfully secured the talents of Portuguese striker Beto, who hails from Serie A outfit Udinese. The official announcement came from the Premier League club on Tuesday, revealing that Beto has committed to a four-year contract with Everton.

While precise financial terms have not been publicly disclosed, credible reports from British media outlets indicate that the 25-year-old's transfer fee amounts to an impressive £25.8 million ($32.43 million).

Everton's current performance has been far from satisfactory, as they find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League standings without having earned a single point. Furthermore, they have failed to find the back of the net in any of their initial three matches this season.

Beto's journey in professional football began when he made his debut in Portugal's Primeira Liga with Portimonense in August 2019. During his second season with the club, his prowess was evident as he notched up an impressive tally of 11 goals in 30 league appearances. Subsequently, he embarked on a season-long loan to Udinese in 2021, marking his foray into Italian football.

His inaugural season in Italy's Serie A was met with considerable success as he replicated his previous season's performance, once again registering 11 goals in 30 league games. This standout performance led Udinese to secure his services permanently for a sum of seven million euros ($7.55 million).

The preceding season showcased Beto's continued growth as he managed to score 10 league goals in 33 appearances. It's worth noting that Everton had previously attempted to acquire Beto's services in the January transfer window of the same year.

Upon finalizing the transfer, Beto shared his perspective on the matter, expressing his sentiment regarding Everton's unwavering interest in him: "When a prestigious club like Everton makes overtures to sign you in January and then reaffirms that interest in the summer, it instills a sense of genuine desire. This factor certainly played a pivotal role in making my decision uncomplicated," remarked Beto.

In the immediate future, Everton's schedule includes an intriguing League Cup second-round fixture against fourth-tier side Doncaster Rovers, scheduled for Wednesday. Following this cup clash, Everton's next league assignment involves a face-off with Sheffield United on Saturday. This series of matches offers Beto an early opportunity to make his mark and contribute to his new club's resurgence.
