Atletico Madrid's talented Argentine midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul, will be sidelined for their upcoming LaLiga match against Valencia on Saturday due to a thigh injury he sustained while on international duty, as confirmed by the club.

De Paul experienced muscle discomfort and had to leave the field late in Argentina's World Cup qualifying victory against Bolivia on Tuesday. Upon returning to Madrid, he was unable to participate in training sessions with his club.

Atletico Madrid issued a statement on Friday, stating, "De Paul has already started to receive physical therapy sessions and will carry out rehabilitation work in the gym. The evolution of his injury will determine his return to work with the group."

Reports from Spanish media suggest that the 29-year-old midfielder will also miss Atletico's opening Champions League match against Lazio on Tuesday. However, there is optimism that he will recover in time for next week's highly anticipated derby against Real Madrid at home.

De Paul's absence compounds the injury woes for Diego Simeone's team, with Reinildo Mandava, Caglar Soyuncu, Koke, and Memphis Depay also sidelined due to various injuries.
