Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show in Paris Saint-Germain's dominant 4-1 away victory over Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday during the early stages of the new Ligue 1 season. In the fourth minute, Mbappe confidently converted a penalty, setting the tone for PSG's impressive performance. He added a second goal just before halftime, solidifying PSG's control over the match.

The penalty was awarded following a foul on Manuel Ugarte by Lyon's captain, Corentin Tolisso. PSG continued to exert their dominance, with Achraf Hakimi scoring the second goal in the 20th minute after a slick one-two with Ousmane Dembele. The lead extended to 3-0 in the 38th minute when Marco Asensio found the back of the net.

Mbappe, showcasing his exceptional skill and prowess, secured his brace with the fourth goal of the match. This resounding win propelled PSG to eight points from four games, placing them in second position in the Ligue 1 standings, just two points behind the leaders, Monaco.

Although Corentin Tolisso managed to net a second-half consolation goal for Lyon from the penalty spot, it was clear that PSG's dominance had defined the match. Lyon, struggling with only one point from their first four games, faced uncertainty regarding their coach, Laurent Blanc's, future.

Elsewhere in Ligue 1, Lille secured a narrow 1-0 home win over Montpellier, Nice claimed their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win against Racing Strasbourg, and newly-promoted Le Havre enjoyed a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Lorient. Additionally, Clermont Foot earned their first point of the season with a dramatic 2-2 draw against Toulouse, with captain Florent Ogier making amends for a previous defensive error with a late equalizer. Finally, Metz and Stade de Reims played to a 2-2 draw in a closely contested encounter.
