Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update ahead of Manchester United's upcoming Premier League match against Burnley. During his press conference at Carrington, Ten Hag was questioned about the potential availability of several key players, including Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat, Tyrell Malacia, and Harry Maguire. It was suggested that Maguire might be the closest to returning, especially since he didn't travel to Germany for the Bayern Munich match due to discomfort after training.

In response, Ten Hag stated, "Perhaps, as you mentioned, Harry Maguire. We will have a clearer picture after Friday afternoon's training session. Varane is set to train, and we will assess his condition. Amrabat will also be training, and we'll monitor his progress. Mount is in a similar situation, as they've all been sidelined for varying periods. Varane's absence was the shortest."

The Saturday match with a kick-off time of 20:00 BST offers an opportunity for Manchester United to regain their form before a series of important fixtures, including a home doubleheader in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace. Facundo Pellistri is a potential candidate for his first start in the English top flight, especially after his appearance in the starting lineup at the Allianz Arena. Additionally, Rasmus Hojlund, who recently scored his debut goal for the club, will be eager to net his first goal in the Premier League.

Furthermore, Ten Hag confirmed that Jadon Sancho would not be part of the squad for this match, and players like Malacia, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Amad, and Antony remain unavailable. Young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo only returned to individual training this week following an injury sustained during a preseason friendly with Real Madrid.

BURNLEY'S TEAM NEWS

Burnley faces the absence of their top scorer, Lyle Foster, who received a late red card in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, resulting in a three-match suspension. Manager Vincent Kompany mentioned that there are no injury concerns within his squad, potentially making Vitinho available again after recovering from a knee issue. Kompany stated, "Apart from Lyle's suspension, we need to manage that situation, but everyone else is fit and ready for Saturday."

Jay Rodriguez, known for his past success against Manchester United with four goals, could step in for Foster. However, Hjalmar Ekdal, Darko Churlinov, and Michael Obafemi are likely to remain sidelined.
