Richarlison Seeks Psychological Support Amid Struggles at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur's Richarlison, who has been struggling to find his form, revealed his intention to seek psychological support upon returning to England. The 26-year-old Brazilian became emotional and was photographed in tears after being substituted during Brazil's 5-1 victory over Bolivia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Richarlison, who has scored only four goals in 40 appearances for Tottenham in the Premier League, shared with Brazilian newspaper O Globo that he had experienced a challenging period in his personal life over the past five months. He expressed relief that those who were solely interested in his financial success had distanced themselves from him, allowing him to focus on his career.
He stated, "Now things are right at home. People who only had an eye on my money have walked away from me," and he believes that this positive shift will enable him to perform better at Tottenham. Richarlison acknowledged the need for professional psychological assistance and intends to seek support from a psychologist upon his return to England, aiming to strengthen his mental resilience.
Despite his struggles, Tottenham, led by new manager Ange Postecoglou, currently occupies the second position in the Premier League. Postecoglou has shown confidence in Richarlison's ability to regain his goal-scoring form, even though the Brazilian has faced challenges on the field. Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton last year for a reported fee of £60 million, including add-ons.
