In his debut as Germany's coach, Julian Nagelsmann led his team to a convincing 3-1 victory over the United States in a friendly match on Saturday. The German squad demonstrated a significant improvement from their previous performance, showcasing a well-rounded and solid performance following a recent disappointing run.

Despite an early threatening effort from Pascal Gross, and the absence of midfielder Joshua Kimmich due to illness, Germany responded strongly after Christian Pulisic's opener for the USA. The American side, led by an energetic Pulisic and Tim Weah on the flanks, started promisingly, with Gio Reyna adding creativity to their attacking play.

Pulisic's impressive solo effort put the USA ahead in the 27th minute, prompting Germany to intensify their game. Ilkay Gundogan equalized in the 39th minute, taking advantage of Leroy Sane's clever play, before Niclas Fuellkrug and Jamal Musiala extended Germany's lead to 3-1.

While Germany's attacking prowess was evident, Sane missed a chance to further widen the gap. Musiala's dynamic performance, coupled with Gundogan's composed midfield presence, proved pivotal for Germany's success.

Reflecting on the match, Nagelsmann acknowledged the team's need for better composure in the initial half, emphasizing their improved patience and control in the latter part of the game. On the other hand, USA's coach Gregg Berhalter lamented the absence of Tyler Adams, a crucial component in their midfield, and Pulisic highlighted defensive vulnerabilities that contributed to their defeat.

Germany is scheduled to face Mexico in Philadelphia, while the USA will confront Ghana in Nashville on Tuesday. The match showcased Germany's ability to navigate a challenging opponent, setting an optimistic tone for Nagelsmann's coaching tenure.
