In a thrilling and highly competitive Women's Super League match held at Leigh Sports Village on Friday, Arsenal's substitute, Cloe Lacasse, emerged as the hero with a stunning late goal, securing a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

The atmosphere was electric, with emotions running high, particularly as former United striker Alessia Russo returned to the ground where she made her name, now wearing the Arsenal colors after her close-season transfer. It was Arsenal who struck first, as Stina Blackstenius found the back of the net in the 14th minute, giving the visitors an early lead.

However, Manchester United swiftly responded, with Leah Galton leveling the score just 13 minutes later. The match took another dramatic turn when debutant Melvine Malard, who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, netted a goal in the 81st minute, granting the home side a 2-1 lead.

But, in the 86th minute, Cloe Lacasse, entering the game as a substitute, had other plans. She seized the opportunity brilliantly, curling a magnificent shot into the top-left corner of the net in the 93rd minute, rescuing Arsenal and earning them their first point of the season following a surprising opening-day loss to Liverpool.

As a result of this hard-fought draw, Manchester United currently occupies the provisional top spot with four points, having secured a 2-1 victory against Aston Villa in their first match. Fans can look forward to more action as six additional games are scheduled for Sunday, including a highly anticipated clash between champions Chelsea and Manchester City.
