GHANA's RECENT JOURNEY

Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, experienced a promising start to 2023, maintaining an unbeaten streak through their initial six matches. However, their winning momentum was halted by Mexico in a recent friendly match, resulting in a 2-0 loss, which marked their first defeat of the year.

Under the leadership of manager Chris Hughton, who assumed the role on February 12, Ghana has navigated a series of challenging encounters. The team's journey began with a goalless draw against Algeria, followed by a series of matches in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, where they secured mixed results, including victories and draws.

The Ghanaian squad consists of a diverse selection of players, with representatives from various renowned clubs across Europe and Africa. Notably, their roster boasts a strong presence in leagues such as Ligue 1 in France and the English Premier League, showcasing the international experience and skill of the players.

In terms of team composition, Thomas Partey, a key player with 13 goals in 46 appearances, captained the side in the recent match against Mexico. Notably, Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, both members of the French club Auxerre, form the only club-based duo within the Ghanaian lineup.

Among the players, forward Ernest Nuamah, aged 19, stands out as the youngest member of the Ghanaian contingent, highlighting the team's blend of experienced veterans and emerging talents.
