The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced on Friday that Brazil forward Kerolin, representing the North Carolina Courage, has earned the prestigious title of the 2023 Most Valuable Player. In her second NWSL season, Kerolin showcased her prowess by scoring an impressive 10 goals in 19 games, securing the Golden Boot runner-up position.

This remarkable achievement makes Kerolin the first South American-born player to receive the league's highest individual honor and the fourth international player to do so. At 23 years old, Kerolin, who also participated in the Women's World Cup, played a pivotal role in leading North Carolina to the third seed in the NWSL six-team playoffs. However, despite their efforts, the team was eliminated in the opening round.

The list of MVP finalists included other standout players such as Sam Coffey and Sophia Smith from the Portland Thorns, Debinha from the Kansas City Current, and Naomi Girma from the San Diego Wave. Kerolin's recognition as the Most Valuable Player underscores her exceptional contributions and impact during the NWSL season.
