Romania secured a flawless Euro 2024 qualifying campaign by fending off Switzerland with a 1-0 home victory on Tuesday. The decisive goal came in the second half as Denis Alibec tapped in from close range in the 50th minute, propelling Romania to the top of Group I with an unbeaten record and a total of 22 points.

In the intense battle for first place, Romania's victory dashed Switzerland's hopes of overtaking them, as the Swiss settled for second place with 17 points. Both teams had already secured their spots in Euro 2024 during Saturday's matches, with Romania defeating Israel 2-1 and Switzerland securing qualification with a 1-1 draw against Kosovo.

However, after receiving treatment, the Manchester City player managed to finish the match.
