Copa America 2023: Argentina & Brazil's Draws, US vs Uruguay Challenge

  Defending champions Argentina and Brazil, two big teams from South America, got good groups for the next Copa America tournament. The United States, hosting the event, will play against Uruguay, who won the title 15 times.

The tournament starts on June 20 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Argentina, the World Cup winners, will play their first match against Canada or Trinidad and Tobago. Brazil, who won nine times, is in Group D with Colombia, Paraguay, and another team from the CONCACAF region.


The United States will face Bolivia and Panama in their first two matches in Group C before taking on Uruguay. Uruguay and Argentina have both won the Copa America 15 times. The U.S. wants to do better than their fourth-place finish in the 2016 tournament.


Mexico, winners of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, are in Group B with Jamaica, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The top two teams from each group will go to the quarter-finals.


The draw took place at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, the city hosting the final on July 14 at the Hard Rock Stadium.
