Ederson initiated his professional career with São Paulo in 2008 and later moved to the Portuguese club Benfica in 2009, where he spent two seasons. His trajectory continued with a transfer to Primeira Liga outfit Rio Ave in 2012, where he established himself as a regular starter. After rejoining Benfica in 2015, he initially played for the reserves but eventually made his debut for the first team, contributing significantly to the team's triumph in four major titles within two seasons.
