Atlanta United has bolstered their attacking options with the loan signing of striker Daniel Ríos from Liga MX side Chivas for the 2024 season. The 29-year-old, who previously played in MLS with Charlotte FC and Nashville SC, brings a wealth of experience to the squad.

Daniel Ríos returns to MLS after a successful stint in Liga MX with Chivas. During his previous spell in MLS from 2020-2022, Ríos showcased his goal-scoring prowess, netting 12 goals and providing 3 assists in 57 appearances for Charlotte FC and Nashville SC.

Atlanta United secured Ríos on loan, recognizing the need to strengthen their attacking depth ahead of a demanding season. With several competitions on the horizon, including MLS, US Open Cup, and Leagues Cup, Atlanta sought a proven goal-scorer familiar with the league.

Club's Perspective:

Vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra expressed the club's confidence in Ríos's ability to contribute positively to the team. He highlighted Ríos's familiarity with MLS and emphasized the importance of adding competition within the squad.

Role in the Team:

Ríos joins Atlanta's attacking ranks, providing valuable depth alongside star striker Giorgos Giakoumakis and Jamal Thiaré. His arrival adds another dimension to Atlanta's offensive arsenal, offering versatility and experience.

Previous Mexican Influence:

Ríos follows in the footsteps of other Mexican strikers who have represented Atlanta United, including Erick "Cubo" Torres and Ronaldo Cisneros. His addition continues the club's tradition of recruiting talent from the Mexican footballing landscape.

Upcoming Challenges:

Under the guidance of head coach Gonzalo Pineda, Atlanta United is poised for upcoming fixtures, starting with a clash against Toronto FC. With recent victories under their belt, Atlanta aims to maintain their momentum with Ríos's inclusion in the squad.

Daniel Ríos's return to MLS with Atlanta United signifies a significant move for both the player and the club. As Atlanta seeks success across various competitions, Ríos's experience and goal-scoring ability will be invaluable assets in their pursuit of silverware.
