Lionel Messi continued his remarkable scoring streak by netting his ninth goal in just six matches, propelling Inter Miami to a resounding 4-1 victory over Philadelphia Union in the Leagues Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

The match held special significance as Philadelphia Union, last year's MLS Cup finalists and renowned for their strong home performance, presented a formidable challenge for Inter Miami, especially after the acquisition of the talented Argentinean striker Messi last month.

In a display of their swift offensive prowess, Inter Miami surged ahead yet again as Josef Martinez, sprinting down the field, managed to find the back of the net a mere three minutes into the game, courtesy of a well-timed pass from Serhiy Kryvtsov.

It was in the 20th minute that Messi showcased his exceptional skill, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to find himself unmarked just beyond the halfway line. Receiving a precise delivery from Martinez, Messi embarked on a dribble forward before unleashing a powerful long-range shot that evaded the grasp of Union's goalkeeper, Andre Blake, who reacted belatedly.

Just before halftime, Inter Miami extended their lead further, courtesy of Jordi Alba, whose clinical finish sent the ball into the net, leaving the Union side disheartened as they retreated to the locker room amidst a chorus of boos from their own fans.

Philadelphia Union managed to salvage some pride in the 73rd minute as Alejandro Bedoya found the target, narrowing the deficit. However, any hopes of a dramatic comeback were swiftly quelled when David Ruiz, in the 84th minute, secured another goal for Miami, consolidating their supremacy. Impressively, Inter Miami has amassed a staggering 21 goals across their last six matches.

The impending Leagues Cup final, scheduled for Saturday, will see Inter Miami square off against either CF Monterrey or Nashville SC, who were set to contend later on Tuesday. This marks a historic moment for Inter Miami, as they make their maiden appearance in a final in the club's history.

Furthermore, the victory carries the significant consequence of securing Inter Miami's debut entry into the CONCACAF Champions League, which is slated for the upcoming year. This achievement amplifies the club's stature and sets the stage for further triumphs on the horizon.
