German midfielder Robin Gosens, previously with Inter Milan, has made a significant transfer to Bundesliga club Union Berlin, marking the debut of the Champions League entrants. The announcement of this move was made by the Bundesliga team on Tuesday.

Union Berlin reportedly shattered their club record by paying 15 million euros (equivalent to $16.35 million) to secure the services of the 29-year-old. Gosens has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, as reported by local media, although the specific duration of the contract was not disclosed.

Gosens initially arrived at Inter Milan in January 2022, initially on loan from fellow Serie A side Atalanta for the remainder of the season. Subsequently, he made a permanent transition to the 19-time Italian champions.

During his time at Inter, Gosens made valuable contributions to the team's success, which included clinching two Italian Cups and an Italian Super Cup. Notably, the club also emerged as runners-up in the 2022-23 edition of the Champions League.

Expressing his sentiments, Gosens conveyed, "I've always said it's my dream to play in Germany and the Bundesliga one day," in an interview with the club's official website. He also commended Union Berlin's recent achievements, both domestically and on an international scale, and expressed his positive impression of the discussions held with the club's leadership. This, in turn, solidified his decision to make the transition.

Union Berlin's remarkable performance during the previous Bundesliga season, finishing in fourth place, granted them entry into their inaugural Champions League endeavor.

Gosens made his debut appearance for the German national team in September 2020 during a Nations League match against Spain. Subsequently, he was part of the squad for the rescheduled Euro 2020, which was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the team's journey concluded with a defeat to England in the round of 16.
