Napoli striker Victor Osimhen reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the club on Sunday, addressing a recent controversy surrounding mocking videos posted by the Serie A champions on social media. The controversy had erupted when Napoli shared a TikTok video featuring a high-pitched voice poking fun at Osimhen's missed penalty during a recent 0-0 draw against Bologna.

While the club clarified on Thursday that they had no intention of causing offense to their star striker, they fell short of issuing a formal apology. In response, Osimhen took to his Instagram account to express his deep appreciation for the city of Naples, which he joined in 2020, describing it as a wonderful decision.

Osimhen's heartfelt message continued by acknowledging the immense love and kindness he had received from the people of Naples. He emphasized his unwavering passion for the club and the pride he takes in wearing the Napoli badge. Osimhen also highlighted the strong bonds he has formed with Neapolitans who have become like family to him, calling for unity, respect, and understanding.

Amidst the controversy, Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, hinted at the possibility of legal action regarding the deleted video. In response, Osimhen removed all images of himself in a Napoli shirt from his social media accounts. However, on the field, he continued to shine, scoring goals in Napoli's recent victories against Udinese and Lecce, bringing his season tally to five goals in seven league games.

Osimhen's significance to Napoli was underlined by his pivotal role in helping the club clinch their first Serie A title in 33 years last season, where he emerged as the league's top scorer with 26 goals. Currently, Napoli stands third in the league standings and is gearing up to host Real Madrid in a Champions League clash scheduled for Tuesday.
