Dimarco's 50-Meter Lob, Calhanoglu's Penalty Propel Summit Win for Inter
Federico Dimarco's remarkable lob from over 50 meters and Hakan Calhanoglu's penalty secured a 2-0 home victory for Inter Milan against Frosinone, allowing them to reclaim the top spot in Serie A on Sunday.
Dimarco's stunning goal broke the deadlock just before halftime, as he unleashed a looping effort from the left flank that sailed over Frosinone keeper Stefano Turati. Calhanoglu added to Inter's lead with a penalty three minutes into the second half after Ilario Monterisi fouled Marcus Thuram.
The win propelled Inter back to the summit with 31 points, two ahead of Juventus in second place, while Frosinone sits 12th with 15 points.
Dimarco, describing his goal, said, "At the start, I saw Denzel (Dumfries), then I saw the goalkeeper off the line and went for it. Thankfully, it went in, otherwise I would’ve got so many insults raining down on me from the stands."
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi praised Dimarco's goal, stating, "Clearly it was a stunner that I think will already be going viral all over the world."
Despite Inter's almost explosive start, they couldn't convert early chances, with Thuram narrowly missing a Calhanoglu corner. Turati made crucial saves, including tipping Lautaro Martinez's strike over the bar.
Frosinone showed resilience, with Walid Cheddira hitting the post in an attempt to narrow the deficit. Inter missed an opportunity for a third goal in stoppage time when Martinez's close-range effort went wide.
Inzaghi emphasized that Dimarco's goal shifted the momentum, and Inter now looks ahead to a crucial clash with Juventus after the international break on Nov. 26. Frosinone will host Genoa in their next Serie A encounter.
