Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces charges from the Football Association (FA) for comments deemed insulting toward match officials, as announced by the FA on Thursday. The charges stem from Arteta's criticism of the decision not to disallow Anthony Gordon's goal during Arsenal's 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on Nov. 4, expressing his frustration over the VAR assessment.

The FA stated, "Mikel Arteta has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.1 following comments that he made in media interviews after Arsenal's Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday 4 November." The charge alleges that Arteta's remarks constitute misconduct, being insulting to match officials, detrimental to the game, and bringing the game into disrepute.

Arteta has until Nov. 21 to respond to the charge issued by the FA.
