Brazilian football star Neymar underwent a surgical procedure on Thursday to address a serious injury to his left knee, specifically a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus. The injury occurred during his participation in Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, resulting in his premature departure from the match. Subsequent medical imaging via an MRI scan confirmed the severity of the damage.

The 31-year-old received treatment from Brazil's national team medical staff at a hospital in Belo Horizonte. Local sources have indicated that Neymar is expected to be released from the hospital on Saturday to commence his recovery process, which is projected to extend until approximately mid-2024.

In a recent social media post, Neymar shared a photo featuring himself alongside his two children, accompanied by the reassuring caption: "Everything will be fine."

Having made a high-profile transfer to the Saudi Pro League's Al-Hilal in August for a staggering 90 million euros ($96 million), the seasoned player's participation has been notably limited. His struggles with muscular injuries have impeded his game time, resulting in his appearance in only five matches for the team, despite his notable tenure at renowned clubs such as Barcelona and Paris St Germain.
