Real Madrid made a significant announcement on Thursday, revealing that their Brazilian forward, Rodrygo, has secured a contract extension until 2028. The 22-year-old initially joined the LaLiga powerhouse in 2019, transitioning from Santos in a notable deal valued at 45 million euros ($47.77 million), with his original contract scheduled to expire in 2025.
In their official statement, Real Madrid CF emphasized, "Real Madrid CF and Rodrygo have agreed a contract extension for the player (Rodrygo), who will remain at the club until 30 June 2028."
During his tenure with the club, Rodrygo has showcased his scoring prowess, accumulating a total of 39 goals across 179 appearances. Additionally, he has contributed significantly to Real Madrid's trophy cabinet, securing eight prestigious titles, which include two league championships, a Champions League victory, and a Club World Cup triumph.
Reports from various media outlets suggest that the fresh contract incorporates a substantial release clause, estimated to be at a staggering one billion euros ($1.06 billion).
This announcement closely follows the contract extension of Rodrygo's compatriot and fellow Brazilian, Vinicius Jr, who also committed to Real Madrid until 2027 just two days prior.
