Cristiano Ronaldo showcased his prowess, securing a 2-0 victory for Portugal against Liechtenstein in a Group J clash. The 38-year-old, now tied with Romelu Lukaku as the top scorer in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, found the net, bringing his international goal tally to 128 in 204 matches. Despite Portugal already securing their spot in the finals and manager Roberto Martinez opting not to rest key players, the first half proved challenging against their lower-ranked opponents.

However, early in the second half, a precise through ball from Diogo Jota set up Ronaldo, who skillfully maneuvered between defenders to unleash an unstoppable left-footed shot, skimming the crossbar before finding the back of the net. In the 56th minute, Joao Cancelo capitalized on a goalkeeper error by Benjamin Buechel, seizing the opportunity to strike into the empty net and extend Portugal's lead. With this win, Portugal dominates Group J with 27 points, comfortably ahead of second-placed Slovakia, while Liechtenstein remains at the bottom with no points after nine games.
