This day of December 18, 2022 brought an unforgettable achievement in the life of Argentines. Argentina beat France in a tiebreaker at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar to win the World Cup. Everyone knows the contribution and sacrifice of Lionel Messi, Lionel Scaloni, Emiliano Martinez in Argentina's World Cup win after three decades.

But it was the incredible support of many ordinary people in Argentina that played a part in that World Cup victory, Martinez recalled one year later. The World Cup-winning Argentine goalkeeper said that many Argentines went to Qatar by selling mortgages and cars to show their support by sitting in the gallery.

FIFA has released a documentary on the anniversary of the end of the 22nd World Cup in Qatar. The documentary called 'A Nation's Story: Argentina' tells the story of the four teams that played in the semi-finals. The Champions Argentina episode features interviews with Emiliano and Scaloni, FIFA camera footage and off-air footage from the World Cup.

In a part of the documentary, while highlighting the contribution of Argentina fans in the World Cup, Emiliano said, "This World Cup was crazy. Many people have mortgaged their houses, sold their cars to buy tickets to Qatar and watch us play. I saw it on TV and on social media. The longer we saw the queue of people, the more smiles appeared on our faces.

The words of the supporters came up in the voice of Argentina coach Scaloni. "A big part of our success is because of the fans who are there," he said in the FIFA documentary. Those who were in Argentina, cheering in front of the TV, also contributed. Their support encouraged us.”
