In recognition of her outstanding year, midfielder Olivia Moultrie, who marked her international debut with the U.S. Women’s National Team and achieved personal milestones with Portland Thorns FC, is among the nominees for the 2023 Chipotle Young Female Player of the Year Award by U.S. Soccer.


Eligibility criteria for the award include participation in a training camp with any of the USA’s Women’s Youth National Teams during the 2023 calendar year. The award can be won only once by a player. Fans can contribute to the voting process, accounting for 15% of the overall tally, while the remainder comes from National Team players, coaches, media, and other constituents.

1. Notable Performances at FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup:

   - Key contributor for the U.S. at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup last year.

   - Started the year with the Under-18/Under-19 Women’s Youth National Teams' January Training Camp.


2. Senior National Team Call-Up:

   - Despite being age-eligible for the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup, received a call-up to the senior National Team in October.

   - Earned her first cap on Dec. 2, becoming the 72nd teenager to do so, playing in the USA’s win over China PR.

4. Consistent Performance with Portland Thorns FC:

   - In her third professional season with Portland Thorns FC, doubled her NWSL starts from previous seasons.

   - Appeared in all 22 regular season matches, making 12 starts and logging over 1,200 minutes of action.

   - Scored two goals and provided three assists during the regular season, aiding Portland's second-place finish in the NWSL standings.


5. Previous Nomination and Recognition:

   - This marks Moultrie’s second consecutive nomination and her second overall for the Young Female Player of the Year Award.
