Championship club Birmingham City fired coach Wayne Rooney after just 15 matches and 83 days. Birmingham sacked coach John Eustace on October 11 last year and appointed the 38-year-old Rooney. But this legendary English footballer could not survive as a coach in the club. Birmingham confirmed Rooney's sacking in a statement today.

Rooney's sacking was rumored for days due to poor performances. That finally came true today. "Birmingham City have today decided to part ways with coaches Wayne Rooney and Carl Robinson," said a Birmingham statement announcing Rooney's sacking. Despite their best efforts, the results were not coming as expected. That is why the board has taken this decision for the good of the club.

After being sacked, Rooney himself said, 'I would like to thank Tom Wagner, Tom Birdie and Gary Cook (the club's chief executive) for giving me the opportunity to coach Birmingham. They have given me maximum support during my short tenure at the club.

Earlier, when Eustace was relegated by Birmingham, Birmingham was sixth in the points table. But after Rooney took charge, the club did not do well at all. As a result, they dropped to number 20 after losing 3-0 to Leeds United on Monday.

Birmingham have lost 9 out of 15 matches under Rooney. As a result, this Manchester United legend has to leave now. Rooney previously managed English club Derby County and DC United of the MLS.
