Olympique de Marseille Triumphs over AEK Athens with Penalties, as Olympiakos Piraeus Ends West Ham's Unbeaten European Streak

Olympique de Marseille secured a 3-1 victory over AEK Athens in the Europa League, benefitting from two penalties following the dismissal of the visiting goalkeeper, Cican Stankovic. Vitinha, Amine Harit, and Jordan Veretout were pivotal in Marseille's win, placing them at the top of Group B with five points after three matches, while AEK currently holds the second spot with four points. In a separate match, Olympiakos Piraeus put an end to West Ham United's 17-match unbeaten run in Europe, emerging triumphant with a 2-1 victory. Kostas Fortounis and an unfortunate own goal from Angelo Ogbonna secured the win for Olympiakos, despite a late consolation goal from Lucas Paqueta for West Ham. With the Group A landscape now competitive, SC Freiburg and West Ham are leading with six points, closely trailed by Olympiakos with four points. Other notable results include Real Betis claiming a 1-0 victory against Aris Limassol, Atalanta drawing 2-2 against Sturm Graz, and Sporting securing a 1-1 draw against Rakow Czestochowa despite playing with 10 men.
